June Fundraiser:
Bruce Blanke, Hartville Market Place, allows Susan and Ray Golden to set up a sale in the Flea Market on a Friday and Monday. Members and friends save useful items in new or nice quality to donate to the sale. Proceeds go to our Akron-Canton TRIO Chapter to cover newsletter, meetings, office, and mailing expenses. We also use the funds to attend health fair and educate the pubic about organ donation.
Annual Celebration of Life Picnic:
Our annual Celebration of Life Picnic is held the second Sunday in August at the John Torok Community & Senior Center: 4224 Massillon Rd, Green, OH 44232 (Click for directions)
The picnic goes from 12pm-4pm. Everyone is welcome and should bring a covered dish.
Akron Children's Hospital Holiday Tree Festival
Rosie Price and Susan Golden donate a decorated tree to the Akron Children's Hospital Holiday Tree Festival every year. As a transplant recipient support group, we feel this is one way of thanking the community, organ donors and families, doctors, and nurses for helping us before and after our transplants. We feel that this is a very important event and are proud to be associated with this volunteer program of Akron Children's Hospital.
Celebration of Life Holiday Party
Instead of a December meeting, on the third Tuesday of December at 6:30, we enjoy a meal followed by a speaker from LifeBanc, a donor family, and our President. We hope to have the Transplant Recipient's Quilt on display. Each recipient or loved one puts an ornament on our Christmas Tree and may say a few words in memory of their donor. We try to have a small door prize for each family. Map
